EDP Maratona de Lisboa 2026: plan the race weekend

Lisbon's marathon starts outside the city and finishes in its main square. Solve the early transfer to Carcavelos, the kit collection at FIL and the riverside closures before you pick a hotel.

Decision rules

Book a central, flat base near Cais do Sodré and Praça do Comércio so the start transfer and the finish both work on foot.
Collect the kit at FIL on 8 or 9 October within the published hours; there is no race-morning collection stated.
Keep Saturday and Sunday travel plans clear of the riverside until the organiser publishes closures.

Two race days, one published plan

Maratona Clube de Portugal starts the EDP Maratona de Lisboa at 08h00 on Saturday 10 October 2026 from the N6-7 in Carcavelos, beside NOVA School of Business & Economics, and finishes at Praça do Comércio. The Hyundai half marathon runs on Sunday 11 October at 09h20. Kits and official shirts are collected at the Sport Expo in FIL, pavilion 3, on 8 and 9 October from 10h to 20h. Closures and transport arrangements to the start are published by the organiser close to the date.

Choose a base for the finish and the early start

Baixa and Chiado put the Praça do Comércio finish on foot and the Cais do Sodré trains to Carcavelos a short walk away, which solves the pre-dawn transfer. Parque das Nações is convenient for FIL and Oriente but far from the finish. Alfama is close in distance and far in stairs after 42 km. Ask about breakfast before 06h00 and a late check-out on race day.

Getting to Lisbon and around it

The airport is on the Metro Red line; Oriente and Santa Apolónia serve CP trains from Porto and the north. Arrive by Thursday 8 or Friday 9 October to collect the kit inside the published hours. Read the dated CP suburban timetable to Carcavelos and the Metro operating hours for the race morning rather than assuming weekday frequencies.

Baixa or Chiado keep the Praça do Comércio finish and the Cais do Sodré station within a short walk, which matters for an 08h00 start in Carcavelos.
